Beautiful Summer Day

It's almost August...and I'm only posting my first summer post! I probably need to step up the game a bit eh?

It's been kind of a crazy summer where many things that could go wrong went wrong - things were slipping away too fast. So a day of sunshine and nature was very much needed.

Because of everything that's happened in the past couple of months, I lost contact with a couple friends I used to hang out regularly with. So, I tested my luck on Sunday and texted a friend to see whether he'd be free for the day to hang out or catch up - You guessed it, he just so happened to be heading to a lake that day! Of course, I tagged along with him and his girlfriend's family to Gatineau Park, located in the province of Quebec.

Gatineau Park is where I always want to be at on a beautiful sunny day; it is the ultimate chill-out place for a nice relaxing day (if a car is available...). It's got hiking trails, lakes, parks and camping sites available, though, I haven't personally camped out there before.

The two girls of the family are some of the cutest and were both encouraging me to jump off the rocks as I had never done that before! Let me just tell you, it was crazy...I've been a swimmer since I was a baby, and with that you'd assume I would be pretty good at diving, but no. I belly flopped from the higher cliff...

The water was so green and warm that I was able to swim in it for a bit - it was also the first time I went so far from the shore. Have to say though, I was pretty timid about it since all my swimming trainings were done in shallow pool where standing up anytime wasn't an issue, but I loved it! It was just perfect with the heat from the sun and the coolness of the water - I finally had a real taste of summer! (Yup, that marked my first summer adventure this year!)

All in all, it was a very pleasant and successful trip, but of course we had to stop by a little food stand on our way back for some poutine...no brainer for any Canadians, duh.

Hoping everyone's summer is full of adventures and fun!

Cheers,
Kitty.
