There are many touristy things to do in Ottawa during the summer, and tulipfest is one of my favourite festival in May!
......I know it's June already and this is a way overdue post, but I still want to share the loveliness of these beautifully blossomed tulips!
If you are into colourful flowers like me, then...definitely note this festival down for next year!
...yes, there were fireworks involved!
Why this particular festival interests me so much was the fact that these flowers only blossom once a year at a very particular temperature!
Ottawa's weather in the two/three weeks of May happened to be perfect for these precious little flowers to bloom, and they were so incredibly colourful that the little girl within me couldn't resist taking lots of pictures!
...or you can say the Asian nature in me...
***This wine red ones are by far my favourite!! They were just so elegant.
I wasn't studious enough to note down all their names...I was more intrigued by how there could be so many variations of tulips!
Sadly though, because I caught the last day of the festival and it was raining pretty hard the day before, some flowers did not quite get through...
And of course, I got distracted from the flowers by...
I don't doubt that they were taking great pictures of the flowers, and full credits to them for putting so much effort! ...but the postures were just too interesting!
I mean, Asian tourists kind of have a reputation for doing even more bizarre things when taking pictures (me included sometimes)...sooo....heh.
My friend and I were lucky enough to catch the weekend fireworks too! It was rather nice!
There were a couple explosions that made me wonder what kind of chemical reactions would allow them to do those fancy colour changing, swirling, mini explosions after getting up in the sky, etc, etc. Very intriguing.
So yeah, there were lots to see in just one day; I wouldn't want to miss out for next year if I were you!!!
P.S. we had to have late night Shawarma to call it a day, so Shawarma Palace--"the best Shawarma in downtown Ottawa"!!
I know calories and all that garlic sauce and fatty and not really something I should eat at 11:30pm...but...#YOLO. plzdunkillme...
heehee.
xoxo,
Kitty
