ColourPop: Highlighters!

Hey peeeps.

It's crazy how fast time passes by!! I almost thought I just wrote a blog post yesterday!
...except not...

So here is another exciting one that's beauty related!

ColourPop Cosmetics has suddenly went cray on YouTube with lots of raves and hypes, so that got me curious about the company and their makeup!

They are known for their intense pigmentation and interesting textures (that cream/play-doughy texture), and I thought it'd be intriguing to get my hands on some to play with!

...of course I had to go with the highlighters...I am all about getting the perf glow!

This is a drugstore price range brand that offers great quality products, and because they are still a pretty small company, I feel they really put thoughts into every order they receive! So much so that they would hand write letters for each order!

I thought that was pretty cute.

After watching some rave videos on YouTube on these highlighters, I went ahead and ordered 5 of them along with 1 blush.

They retail for $8 USD a piece and they each comes with 4.2g/ 0.15oz of product.
The package is very well packed with fragile sticker and lots of foam for cushioning inside..
Each highlighter comes in a little box with ingredients on the back,
The top and the bottom of the boxes said:
"Made in the city of Angels"
"Keep the magic in, close jar tightly after use"

I thought that was a rather cute detail as well!
So far, this open box/first impression is positive for me!

Now, let's get into the actual product and colours.

I picked out 5 shades of highlighters:
(with descriptions of the colour from website and pictures taken with flash, I will show them in different lighting all together later!)

1. MONSTER- "The cute-light pick with opalescent duo chrome finish-version"
***This one very quickly became my favourite out of the bunch! I love anything pink, and this on the cheeks was just beautiful! I felt so girly...but I loved it!

2. SMOKIN' WHISTLES- "We dunno about the smoke but you'll definitely get some whistles in this cool-toned pink champagne with silver highlights."
 3. WISP- "Lemme wisp-er in your ear, tell you something that you might like to hear, wait till you see our Golden champagne with highly reflective hues of gold duo chrome finishes."
***This one came cracked like this, but it is still usable..I just didn't really get why it would be like this with all the wrapping around it!

4. HIGHLY WAISTED- "Soft golden peach with pink and gold duo chrome finishes. One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor."
 5. MOST NECESSARY- "Soft copper with rosy gold highlights. Aka, You need it, right meow."
***Okay, the description of this one got me. I have a soft spot for anything kitty related--"meow"--because of my name...the actual colour is too dark for me as a highlighter...even though the flash makes my arm look like I'm hella tan..

The one blush I got:
APHRODISIAC- "Sculpt and contour anything with this soft beige brown in a matte finish."
***this one has the classic imprint/pattern on top that all eyeshadows have (if you're familiar with their products already!) The actual shade to me is darker than the pictures online by quite a lot!...so are the highlighters...but! I mainly got this to see if it could potentially be a dupe for my M.A.C Aphrodite's Shell that came out with last summer's collection. This one from ColourPop is wayyy darker than that..so, nope. Not even a close dupe, sadly..

Here are some pictures of them with different lightings (order is the same with my numbering above!):

  • Natural lighting:

  • Natural lighting with flash
  • Artificial lighting

For the most part, I am really impressed by the pigmentation and the reflectiveness of each highlighters, but the colours were pretty misleading on the website! I am pretty pale with yellow undertone, NC20 in m.a.c roughly; and some of these I will have to use as blushes!

As for the blush...the texture isn't as smooth as the highlighters, which, results in it being harder to blend. The highlighters feel like butter, but the blush feels like play-dough. The pigmentation is still beautifully done though! Just don't know about contouring...I have yet to figure out a way to wear this without giving me an overly blushed face!

This is me wearing somkin' whistles with two different looks: simple, almost 'no-makeup' makeup
& subtly glam work makeup. Check out the sheen!! That's just from the sunlight peeking in from my window.

Hmm...I'm liking how easy they are to use! What do you think?!

Let me know which shades you would like to try or if you already own some, let me know how you like them!!

xoxo,
Kitty.
